Is there a dress code? We suggest you use business casual (i.e. slacks/khakis, appropriate dresses/skirts) to guide your dress for the day, especially if you are planning to meet with your legislator. A blouse or button-down shirt are also recommended; a blazer is optional. If possible, please refrain from wearing jeans or casual/athletic footwear.
How early do I need to arrive? Check-in opens at 8:30 am and the program starts at 9:30am. We recommend that you arrive early to mitigate issues with traffic/public transit and allow plenty of time to find seating. Food and drinks are not allowed in the building, but there are coffee shops in neighboring Quincy Market where you can purchase and enjoy drinks and food prior to the beginning of the program.
Is there parking available? Parking is very costly and limited in Boston near Faneuil Hall and the Massachusetts State House. We strongly recommend using the MBTA.
- Blue Line to Faneuil Hall
- Green Line North Station, Park Street, or Government Center
- Orange Line to State Street or Haymarket
- Red Line to Park Street
- Commuter Rail to North Station or South Station
If you are unfamiliar with downtown Boston, exit the T station and use your phone’s GPS for walking directions to 4 S Market St, Boston, MA 02109. All stations listed above are less than 0.5 mile from Faneuil Hall.
How far are we walking? Once the morning program has finished, we will walk to the Massachusetts State House at 11:15am which is about half a mile. Snacks will be waiting for participants outside of Faneuil Hall. You will follow volunteers for the appropriate route to the State House, and can follow along with a map in your folder. Please reach out to one of the volunteers at LEAD if you have any questions or concerns during the walk.
Can I bring a backpack/purse? Upon arrival at the State House, you will need to go through security which involves putting any bags through the machine and going through a metal detector. Due to the high number of individuals who will need to pass through security, we highly recommend that you wear no metal and bring no more than one small bag and empty your pockets.
Will we be provided lunch? Yes, bagged lunch will be provided at the State House following legislative panels. Please note any dietary restrictions so we may accommodate you.
Is there on-site registration/can I show up day of? Registration will close when capacity for legislative panels is reached. Unfortunately, there will be no on-site registration. Due to limited capacity at both venues we encourage participants to register as soon as possible.
*If you require accommodations protected under the ADA, please indicate that on the registration form or contact us before the end of the day on March 18, 2019 or as soon as possible.
Be on the lookout for emails from NASW-MA containing additional information once you have registered. Please direct any questions or concerns to Daniela Reyes at firstname.lastname@example.org or 617-227-9635 x122.
