MSNJ, along with RSNJ and others, fought unsuccessfully in June to reduce taxation on ACFs during the negotiations on the State budget. Legislation has been introduced to reduce the tax (A4588), and MSNJ will continue to seek a reduction of the tax, especially since the need for the tax revenue has gone down with reductions on charity care spending.
Governor Christie has already signed a bill to phase out the cosmetic procedure tax. See details here: http://www.state.nj.us/treasury/taxation/phase_out_cosmetic_medical_proc.shtml
MSNJ is working on legislation to reduce physician taxes. In particular, we aim to phase out the ambulatory care facility tax. See the bill HERE: http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/2014/Bills/S2500/2406_I1.HTM
National study finds New Jersey the worst state in which to practice medicine, largely because of this tax. See the report HERE.
