SB-266 Bad for Boating, Fishing, Tourism and Indiana
A new bill in the Indiana State Senate could create unnecessary obstacles to boating and fishing in Indiana waters.
Why it matters: SB-266 would limit boating and fishing activities within 200 feet off shore and would impose an annual user fee of $30.00 on out-of-state watercraft used in Indiana.
The big picture: Indiana’s recreational fishing industry generates more than $1.1 billion in economic activity and supports more than 8,600 good paying jobs.
The bottom line: It’s never a good time to limit access to boating, fishing or tourism, but during these difficult economic times, Indiana cannot afford SB-266.
