AB 2146 prohibits harmful and unnecessary non-agricultural uses of neonicotinoid pesticides
AB 2146, by Assembly Member Rebecca Bauer-Kahan, would prohibit harmful and unnecessary non-agricultural uses of neonicotinoid pesticides. The bill is on Gov. Newsom’s desk. Please contact Gov. Newsom today and request that he signs AB 2146 into law.
A growing body of research demonstrates that “neonic” pesticides are driving decline in bee and other pollinator insect populations, which in turn threatens native plants and valuable crops that depend on insect pollination.
Neonics also contaminate water supplies and have been linked to mass losses of birds, fish, birth defects in white -tailed deer and harms to other wildlife. The Centers for Disease Control indicates that neonics are present in the bodies of half of the population on any given day with the highest concentrations in children. Exposure to neonic pesticides has been linked to increased risks of birth defects, decreases in sperm quality and quantity and other neurological and reproductive effects.
Help protect bees, wildlife and Californians by prohibiting neonic pesticides in needless lawn and garden use.
