CRA-Sponsored Step Therapy Bill Passes Assembly
June 2, 2015 - This afternoon the California Assembly passed legislation providing an important step in creating common sense rules for step therapy that will protect a patient’s ability to receive appropriate care.
CRA is a proud co-sponsor of AB 374 (Nazarian), which will prevent the use of step therapy in cases where it would cause an adverse reaction. In addition, AB 374 will allow a physician to request an override of step therapy if he or she believes the substituted medicine is not in the best interest of the patient.
Most recently CRA issued a Floor Alert urging assemblymembers to vote in favor of AB 374. CRA will continue to voice its support for the legislation as it moves to the Senate.
