Since its inception more than 40 years ago, more than 5 million New Yorker’s have benefited from TAP. The program helps nearly 300,000 New York State students pay their tuition at a New York State college or university. In 2019-20, students were awarded more than $838 million in TAP, with a maximum award of up to $5,165. The majority of students who receive a TAP grant come from families with annual incomes below $20,000.
Because TAP is a grant it does not have to be repaid. For more about TAP, visit: https://www.hesc.ny.gov/pay-for-college/apply-for-financial-aid/nys-tap.html
