<h2 style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold; margin-top: 14pt; margin-bottom: 0pt; line-height: 24px;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">This bill would, among other things, do the following:</span></span></span></h2>

<ul style="margin: 0pt; line-height: 19.5px; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; padding-left: 0pt;" type="disc">
<li style="margin-left: 28.52pt; margin-bottom: 12pt; padding-left: 7.48pt; font-family: serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Require school districts and community college districts to provide classified staff layoff notices by March 15th and termination notices by May 15.&nbsp;&nbsp;If the district does not provide the notices by those times, the bill&nbsp;would&nbsp;require districts to allow the employee to return to work for the&nbsp;subsequent&nbsp;year.</span></span></li>
<li style="margin-left: 28.52pt; margin-bottom: 12pt; padding-left: 7.48pt; font-family: serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Provide administrative hearing rights to classified staff to contest a layoff notice, as specified.</span></span></li>
<li style="margin-left: 28.52pt; margin-bottom: 12pt; padding-left: 7.48pt; font-family: serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Allow districts to lay off classified staff after the March 15 deadline if the state budget cost of living adjustment is less than 2&nbsp;percent, but only from the date the budget is signed until August 15 of that year.</span></span></li>
<li style="margin-left: 28.52pt; margin-bottom: 12pt; padding-left: 7.48pt; font-family: serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Require that classified employees receive the same rights if the Legislature provides certificated employees or academic employees with any additional rights to notice or hearing relating to layoffs after January 1, 2021.</span></span></li>
