Multitype Library Cooperatives

We support, strengthen, and empower Florida libraries! Five regional multitype library cooperatives (MLCs) support Florida libraries and their respective communities by facilitating resource sharing and providing continuing education opportunities. These services empower library staff to meet Floridians’ needs for technology, information, access, and other library services. The MLCs are funded by member dues, state Library Cooperative Grants, and federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds granted by the Florida Division of Library and Information Services.

Multitype Library Cooperatives Support, Strengthen, and Empower Florida Libraries!

Support Sustaining $2 Million Recurring Funding

MLCs support innovation through training, trend spotting, and helping libraries take advantage of emerging technologies, civic engagement, and content creation opportunities.

• Florida library staff are well-trained and innovative. MLCs offer the face-to-face, online, hybrid, and selfpaced training opportunities that make this possible.

• Florida Libraries employ qualified workers. Florida Library Jobs connects libraries with employees who will strengthen the quality of Florida libraries and the services they provide their communities.

• Floridians borrow books & materials from all over the state. MLCs facilitate statewide delivery of library resources, a cost-effective way to provide materials to all Florida communities.

• Floridians access library resources and services in neighboring communities through Reciprocal Borrowing. MLCs support agreements allowing residents to use libraries in other communities without charge, allowing additional access to material and promoting resource sharing.
