The current attacks on reproductive rights are unprecedented and profound. They are even happening right here in Illinois with attempts in the Illinois General Assembly to shut down Planned Parenthood and other providers. This is just the latest move to make it nearly impossible for young and poor women to leap over the hurdles put in front of them as they try to seek a safe abortion.
In the last 3 years, over 1,500 anti-abortion laws have been proposed – more than the previous 39 years combined since Roe v Wade. In just the first six months of 2015, states have passed an unbelievable 51 abortion restrictions. The only thing standing in the way of these restrictions becoming law in Illinois is to elect pro-choice leaders who can be counted on to consistently vote to protect reproductive rights. Your vote defeats anti-choice extremists where it matters most – at the ballot box.
