California Arts Council
The California Arts Council (CAC) is California's state arts agency, dedicated to advancing California through the arts and creativity. The CAC grants funds and provides services for arts education in California's schools and communities as well as to arts organizations that improve communities across the state. Its grant programs and initiatives reach out to rural as well as urban populations, and the CAC is a leading voice in connecting and improving state and local arts programs that are accessible to all.
In 2015 the CAC bounced back from a decade of minimum funding (as little as $1.1 million) and a consistent placement among the bottom five states in terms of public arts funding. In June, California boosted the CAC's funding to $8.3 million!
