We support the Industrial Hemp Farming Act of 2015 and encourage its passage before the end of the 115th Congress.
Since January 2015, the Industrial Hemp Farming Act (IHFA) has sat in the Senate as S.134 and in the House as H.R. 525. The bill currently has 11 Senate and 60 House co-sponsors. The IHFA has been brought forth previously, but has never moved out of committee due to a lack of legislative support.
Hemp is legal to grow in 30 industrialized countries and in 28 U.S. states, with 9 states currently growing hemp under either Section 7606 of the Farm Act of 2014 or commercially through a State Constitutional Amendment. Awareness of industrial hemp from members of Congress is at historic levels.
