Victory! Congress passes NEA-supported Perkins Act
Once again, your advocacy is getting results! Both chambers of Congress have passed NEA-supported legislation to reauthorize the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act, and President Trump is expected to sign it into law shortly. One of the largest sources of federal funding for high schools, the Perkins Act helps ensure that all students, no matter what zip code they live in, have access to high-quality career and technical education (CTE). The legislation passed by Congress reflects NEA’s key principles and primary recommendations for reauthorization: involving educators in planning and decision-making at all levels, preparing educators to address the needs of all students, and addressing gaps between workers’ skills and employers’ needs.
