A bill to authorize programs and activities to support transportation options in areas that are undergoing extensive repair or reconstruction of transportation infrastructure, and for other purposes.

Commentary

This bill would give preference to projects that provide transportation alternatives in areas that are dealing with extensive repair or reconstruction of transportation infrastructure -- including passenger rail and public transportation facilities. Eligible mitigation projects include:

1) Transportation Demand Management Programs

2) Carpools or Telecommuting Projects

3) Planning, Design, Acquisition of Right of Ways, construction, improvement and management of streets, pathways, and public transportation facilities to facilitate expanded bicycle and pedestrian mobility and access.
