Senators are expected to hold a vote next week on legislation similar to the House’s American Health Care Act (AHCA). The House bill cuts over $800 billion to Medicaid, and would leave 23 million more people without health insurance. And while the Senate has not yet released a draft of their bill, we expect similarly devastating outcomes.
Medicaid is an essential tool in the fight against chronic homelessness, and the coverage gained through Medicaid expansion has improved health care access for millions of the most vulnerable Americans. These cuts, would be devastating to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness, and would hinder communities’ efforts to house and regain stability for homeless individuals and families.
It will only take 3 Senators to stop a bill that includes damaging cuts to Medicaid and eliminates essential protections, but we need your help to get them on board!
