The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) represents the 2,800 local health departments across the United States that ensure that safety of the water we drink, the food we eat, and the air we breathe.
NACCHO’s vision is health, equity, and security for all people in their communities through public health policies and services. NACCHO’s mission is to be a leader, partner, catalyst, and voice with local health departments in order to ensure the conditions that promote health and equity, combat disease, and improve the quality and length of all lives.
In order to support them, policymakers need to understand what local health departments do and why you are so important to your community. Here you will find resources that will help you take action on issues that affect your ability to protect and improve the health of people in your community.
