Support the Preserving Access to Manufactured Housing Act (H.R. 650/S. 682)
MHI is working to ensure manufactured housing financing remains available and affordable, without eroding important federal consumer protections. Federal regulations have jeopardized access to financing and disrupted the manufactured housing market, including severely impacting the equity of consumers currently residing in manufactured homes. Many lenders have either reduced their loan products available for manufactured home consumers or in some cases exited the manufactured home loan market completely since these rules went into effect. S. 682/H.R. 650 will ensure federal regulations stop harming manufactured homeowners and homebuyers.
Support the New Energy Efficient Home Tax Credit
MHI is working to permanently extend the New Energy Efficient Home Credit (45(L) Tax Credit), which is an important tool to providing energy efficient homes to the price-sensitive manufactured housing market. Under the credit, which expired on December 31, 2014, producers of Energy Star-qualified manufactured homes were eligible to receive a tax credit of $1,000 per home. Manufacturers of energy efficient modular homes were eligible to receive a tax credit of $2,000.
MHI is encouraging lawmakers’ efforts to provide a workable secondary market for manufactured home loans.
Streamline Energy Regulation
MHI is seeking a legislative change to eliminate the costly and duplicative dual-regulatory enforcement system for energy standards for manufactured homes.
