BRIEF: Seven Oaks Classical School withdraws application

May 20--In an email today, Matt Wolf, board vice president of the proposed charter school Seven Oaks Classical School, announced plans to withdraw the school's application. The charter application was set to be reviewed at a meeting by the Indiana Charter School Board at 3:00 p.m. today.

"We are currently exploring all options and looking to make a decision regarding our next steps in the coming weeks regarding how we will meet the goal of opening in the Fall of 2016," said Wolf in the email.

Leaders of the proposed school were denied an application last fall, with ICSB members citing holes in the education and business plans, among other concerns.

School officials submitted an updated application earlier this year, which included more board members, the downsizing of the school to a kindergarten through sixth-grade structure during its opening year, a new lunch plan and changes to the educational plan.

Today marks the final day in the most recent round of the ICSB charter application process. The board plans to vote on recommendations from ICSB staff at their afternoon meeting.
