Issue Background

The IAPMO Group supports WaterSense because it:

  • Promotes the value of water efficiency.
  • Provides consumers with easy ways to save water, as both a label for products and an information resource to help people use water more efficiently.
  • Encourages innovation in manufacturing.

Products that have earned the WaterSense label have been certified to be at least 20 percent more efficient without sacrificing performance. Upgrading to more efficient WaterSense labeled products can help our communities save billions of gallons of water every year.

The IAPMO Group is proud to be one of the inaugural partners of WaterSense, a program by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Through this partnership, EPA works with industry stockholders to protect our nation's water supply by empowering consumers with information and by helping them to identify products that save water and money without sacrificing performance.

Since the program’s inception, IAPMO R&T (a business unit of the IAPMO Group) has been an approved certification body for the WaterSense program, working with manufacturers to certify their products’ compliance to the efficiency standards. IAPMO R&T was also among the first certification bodies to be ANSI accredited as a U.S. EPA WaterSense third-party certification body.

As a proud certifier of WaterSense products, The IAPMO Group enthusiastically supports efforts to grow this important initiative. The WaterSense program represents a prime example of how public and private entities can work together to ensure the preservation of our most important natural resource: water.
