Today, both the Senate and House of Representative adjourned their respective chambers. The final act of the extended 2020 Legislative Session was the vote to approve the state's 2020-2021 General Appropriations Act (budget) totaling $93.2 billion.
The budget contained $15 million for the State University System's University of Distinction Programs that will be distributed by the Board of Governors, but additional funds in the amount of $3 million were appropriated for The Water School University of Distinction Project.
Additionally, FGCU's Integrated Watershed and Coastal Studies-The Water School was allocated $14,988,248 for construction.
In the coming days, the Senate and House will present Governor DeSantis with the approved General Appropriations Act for his review and approval. Governor DeSantis has 15 days from the date he is presented the budget to complete his review and execute any veto actions.
