Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act

October 5, 2017

This bill would protect developing babies who can feel the excruciating pain of an abortion and also those who can survive outside the womb.

Our Position

The USA is one of only seven countries (including North Korea, China and Vietnam) that allow abortions on demand past the developmental age limit that this bill would enforce.

A recent study from the New England Journal of Medicine reveals that premature babies can survive at 20 weeks post-fertilization. Science also shows that such babies at this developmental stage have the architecture to feel pain but lack the pain-limiting defenses that older humans have.
