21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) is a federal grant that helps local communities provide high quality and engaging enrichment activities, particularly for students who attend high-poverty schools. For Communities In Schools affiliates nationwide, 21st CCLC is an important source of funds for the activities and opportunities that empower our students to achieve in school.
As Congress begins to finalize the budget for FY 2017, 21st CCLC is under threat of cuts. This is an extremely tight budget year and even those policymakers who have been avid supporters of this program in the past may feel stressed by other funding priorities.
Communities In Schools has joined together with other organizations working to urge Congress to maintain funding for this program. However, we cannot do it alone and we need YOUR help to get the message across! Use our easy advocacy tool to make a call or send a pre-written letter to Congress urging them to maintain funding for this important grant.
