The Arizona Legislature approved bills for the state budget on May 5, including HB 2547 and SB 1532, which included Gov. Doug Ducey’s university capital improvement plan.
President Michael M. Crow had this to say about the victory:
“The success of our state is dependent on providing greater access to higher education and equipping students with the knowledge and ability to be adaptive learners, capable of tackling the world’s most complex challenges. The dollars allotted for the universities in the FY18 budget will assist in giving more students the opportunity to receive a high-quality education and positively contribute to Arizona’s future.”
Thank you so much for all you’ve done this spring to support higher education at Arizona’s public universities. We appreciate everything you’ve done to share the importance of this legislation with your families, friends and elected representatives.
Thank you for making your voice heard in support of Arizona’s state universities!
Over the next 10 years, Arizona public universities expect to add 61,000 students and expand the research mission by more than $500 million. To help accommodate the required growth, Gov. Doug Ducey proposed a research infrastructure expansion program that will allow the universities to bond for new buildings without raising taxes.
The Arizona Board of Regents and the Sun Devil Advocates Network endorse Gov. Doug Ducey’s innovative plan to construct, renew and rebuild infrastructure across the campuses of Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University and the University of Arizona.
