Meixner has performed on more than 50 albums, 17 as leader or soloist. He and his band perform 180 times a year across the country for venues ranging from intimate events and clubs to massive festivals.

Meixner also recently provided the soundtrack and singing voice for actor Jack Black in "The Polka King," a film that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2017 and will be released this month on Netflix.

Meixner is the co-founder of the Pennsylvania Music Preservation Society, the non-profit organization sponsoring the Great Allentown Memorial Day Celebration.

The Great Allentown Memorial Day Celebration will focus on Pennsylvania Dutch culture, music and foods.

Education will be a key component of the event. Performers will be paid for fellowships, requiring them to include educational elements.

Meixner and others involved with the event have said it will be designed to build bridges between cultures. One goal is to explore the common ancestry of German and Austrian music and Mexican, South American and Latino music.

So the Memorial Day celebration will incorporate music that will appeal to the area's growing Hispanic population.
