Explore Our Brand New Legislative Action Center
The APWA Legislative Action Center, the web-based tool APWA members have used for years to send messages to their Congressional Representatives, has now been enhanced with a new look and great new features to make communicating with Congress even easier and more effective. It is your enhanced internet gateway to reaching out to your elected officials on public works issues, the place to go for information about the status of federal legislation impacting public works, and information about your Representatives.
Taking action and sending messages is at the heart of the APWA Legislative Action Center, and doing so has never been easier. As a member of APWA Advocates, you will continue to receive Action Alerts via email directing you to the Legislative Action Center to send a message to your Members of Congress. When you respond by clicking the ‘take action’ link in the Action Alert or on the APWA Legislative Action Center site you will be taken to a form that we have prepopulated with contact information you have provided to us as an APWA member. This information is necessary to ensure that your message is recognized as coming from a constituent; without it, the message will not be successfully submitted to your elected official. From there, you will be able to customize a standard message APWA has prepared or send it as written. That’s all it takes.
Other great features of the enhanced Legislative Action Center include legislative and regulatory news and updates, and information about APWA’s advocacy priorities and positions on key issues. You can also read about legislation that impacts public works and see how your elected officials voted.
This week the House of Representatives will debate the Water Resources Reform and Development Act, or WRRDA. WRRDA promotes investment in the nation’s critical water resources infrastructure, authorizes projects that improve our nation’s water infrastructure and environment, and accelerates project delivery, saving local governments time and money. As an APWA Advocate, you will soon receive an APWA Legislative Action Alert encouraging you to send a message to your member of Congress, urging them to vote “yes” on the bill. Please be sure you respond to this urgent call to action!
